Visiting Lyon

Have a free Thursday/ Friday in the city. Looking to relax before heading home. Any great markets/shopping areas? Love to walk. Couple in their 60's

May be you walk to the stunning Roman theatres and the Basilica of Fourvieres.
I passed more than half a day in the WW2 Museum of Resistance and Deportation and a whole day at Vienne (Roman stuff, most of it open air).

Actually, Lyon is a great walking city, much like Paris, just a few more hills. And has an outstanting indoors market, Les Halles Paul Bocuse, the ultimate foodie market!

While walking around, keep your eyes open for the very impressive murals in Lyon.

We used public transportation for getting around. A 24-hour Liberté ticket for E5,60 is valid for unlimited use of the Metro, buses, trams and funiculars.

Wander around Vieux Lyon, a district with beautiful Renaissance buildings.

Take the boat trip down the river around the newly developed Confluence area.

The Musee des Tissus, the textile/clothing museum, is great, much more interesting than its name might suggest.

The Roman museum up on one of the hills is superb.

Our single day there last year was far too brief, but I did do a captioned photo album of what we saw: https://goo.gl/photos/w1vCRt6gLR5PH4pz8

YOu don't go to Lyon to go shopping, no. They do have a flea market on Thursdays but it's near the canal in the Villeurbane area, not in central Lyon and not near a metro stop. They have typical chain stores and shopping malls in Lyon center.

there is so many things to do in lyon. Lot of museums, markets, shopping center etc...

One of the most famous is Part-Dieu shopping center, there is also the confluence one.

When you're at Bellecour, you're close to almost everything, as the old town or Croix Rousse, lot of restaurants and shops in that area.

You can discover every Lyon districts here : https://www.appart-ambiance.com/en/lyon-districts
