Vienna Hotels & Day Trips

Hello -- I have saved all of my business travel points and am trying to pick the best place to stay in Vienna of the chains. Does anyone have an opinion on the Imperial versus the Bristol? Also, are there any day trips from Vienna anyone could recommend? Thanks so much in advance. Emma

Here are just two daytrip suggestions from Vienna: Bratislava and Sopron. Here's a website with several other ideas: http://members.nusurf.at/viennalodgi...-day-trips.htm
They suggest Melk, Durnstein and Krems, Eisenstadt, Baden, and others.

I must add that I am not sure if some of these would be day trips or if you would rather take your time and spend the night there.

My daughter and I had a lovely day trip on the train out to Krems, a small town out on the Danube. There were several beautiful old churches, one of which dates back to the 1100s, much to the amazement of my American 11 year old, who thinks that anything more than about 100 years old is ancient. When we purchased our tickets we were not sold tickets that went straight through to Krems, which was a little confusing, and we ended up returning to different station than the one from which we had departed, which was very confusing. However, it meant that we saw a part of the city that we hadn't planned to see, which turned out to be fun. This was also a very easy, do-able trip that didn't require getting up very early or returning terribly late.
