Victoria Palace Hotel - Paris

Has anybody recently stayed or seen the Victoria Palace Hotel in the 6th? There seems to be very mixed comments. It is a new listing in Karen Brown's book, which we always seem to agree with, but have recently seen some comments which concern us. Please help. Thanks!

Karen: I now about where the hotel is. Location is fine. For the price, I guess it should be ok. It's a four star.
You can look at it at:
http://www.pariserve.tm.fr/hotel/vic...lace/index.htm

Otherwise just check the hotels out that are listed under pariserve. In my opinion, it always depends on personal views and experiences whether somebody was happy to stay in a certain place or not. You can have bad luck in a very well commented hotel as well.

Are we talking the same hotel Fred?

I stayed in the Victoria Palace last October. For 1600FF I had an enormous room big enough to accommodate a King Bed, sofa and two armchairs - it was more a suite really. The room was decorated in the "English Country" style and obviously had been renovated recently.

The hotel is located in a small, quiet side-street close to Montparnasse station. It is at the very end of the 6th, really closer to the 14th, so it is not in the Hub" of things. However, it is a short walk to everywhere - Lux Gardens, St. Germaine - and there are great restaurants in the 14th including La Coupole (big 30s brasserie), Le Dome (sit and have a glass of wine outside) Le Bar a Huites 9for the fish-lovers.

Check this site out - I was staying in the room pictured in the top left.
http://www.apartments-paris.com/vict...ce/english.htm

Regarding service, the staff seemed very pleasant and helpful. No complaints all round and I would galadly stay there again.

Hope you have a great time.

Regards ... Ger

Ser

Thanks everybody for your help. Fred's comments were the comments that concerned me. I don't know Fred, but I do know Karen Brown, and trust her judgement. It really reassures us to know that someone else has had a good experience there also.
