Verona, Italy

Would love to stop in Verona for the day and will be traveling from Milan to Venice by train. Is it possible to make a stop off in Verona before Venice with luggage? Anyplace in Verona train station to leave luggage? Hate to drag it.... Or would I be better to do Verona from Venice as a day trip? How far a train ride is Venice from Verona... Thanks!!!

Gail, Verona is about halfway between Milan and Venice - roughly 1 1/2 hours from each. Easy trip. (I'm calculating based on the IC train I took)

As for a left luggage room at the train station, sorry, I don't recall one way or the other. Perhaps someone else can. For pics and interesting, practical info on Verona, visit http://www.veronahouse.com

I would do Verona as a stopover and not as a side trip from Venice. Leave your luggage at the manned luggage deposit in Verona's Porta Nuova Train Station (close to the coffee bar). Trains between Milan and Verona/Venice leave at least hourly (even two per hour), so you have lots of flexibility. Train travel time is 90 minutes to both Milan and Venice. From the station to the center of Verona is 15 mins. on foot or 5 min by bus. It's all well worth a short diversion.

yes it is possible, but check the ticket validity (6 hrs for each trip on each train). remember to take IC or EC trains (air conditioning) or EUROSTAR (fast train). regards

UPDATED INFO? Has anyone attempted this more recently than 2003? We are travelling this November and are also taking the train from Milan to Venice. Is this luggage service still available at the Porto Nuova? Thanks in advance.
