Venice: Train station to the cruise terminal

We are arriving in Venice by train in the morning of a cruise. How do we travel, each with a suitcase, from the train station to the cruise terminal?

It's my understanding that there is more than one departure dock for cruises. You should ask your cruise company.

Yes, there is more than one cruise dock. San Basilio can handle the smaller cruise ships, and be reached by taxi from Piazzale Roma or by vaporetto - see tinyurl.com/san-basilio. The main Marittima terminals can also be reached by taxi from Piazzale Roma, or bus or shuttle - see tinyurl.com/venice-marittima.

Hi E,

Piazzale Roma is across the Grand Canal from the San Lucia station.

See www.viamichelin.com for a map.

My wife and I did this last October. We each had a suitcase, on wheels. You turn right after coming out of the train station, and walk approx 100m before carrying your cases over a bridge. It is not case friendly, as it does not have an even surface. Once over the bridge, there is a bus terminal where each cruise line has a shuttle bus that comes and goes to the respective ships.
