Venice restaurants

My husband and I will be in Venice one night only. We were wondering about one fantastic restaurant for that evening. We would like a romantic, Italian or not, non-touristy, expensive is okay although not a requirement, memorable restaurant for that night. Any favorites or opinions would be appreciated. I've done some research but would like some new opinions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Ira have you actually dined at either of the places you recommended? I would not call Da Fiore particularly romantic, but I suppose that depends on your definition of the word...

I also like Vini da Gigio very much. Another one we like is Ristorante Riviera http://www.ristoranteriviera.it/.

I'll second the Vini da Gigio and also mention that some people have said that Da Fiore is not as great as it was when it was undiscovered.

We also liked this place

Alle Testiere just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa. Small very intimate and the food was wonderful. Here is a review.

These all look like what we were thinking. I am especially drawn to Vini da Gigio. One night is not enough..

I, too, thought Alle Testiere was extraordinary. But not sure if it would be considered romantic... Conventional "romantic" places often fall short on the food, in my own experience..

Depending on when you are arriving in Venice, you should have the opportunity for two wonderful meals. You can adopt the Italian custom of eating dinner fairly late and also have a nice late lunch.

Try dinner at the restaurant of the Europe Regina on the Grand Canale. It's a Westin Hotel directly on the canal and if it's warm out you can be seated outside and listen to the gondoliers sing Santa Lucia as you gaze across the canal at the Santa Maria Della Salute church. Doesn't get any more romantic than that and the food is good besides.

Although I haven't been in any of the top dollar spots, one of the only restaurants that I know of that I would consider romantic in Venice is La Colonna. Pretty little tea lights scattered on the walls, in tiny niches, nice art, a sort of sexy atmosphere. In Canareggio.

Oh, sitting outside at Santa Marina. Great food and service, a quiet piazza tucked away from the beaten path, but very near San Marco. This is an exceptional and somewhat undiscovered restaurant. That is hard to say in Venice.

And you could also have lunch at Da Fiore; they have a "bargain" menu during the day.

I would take Julie's suggestion for dinner..

My refreshed suggestions of four restaurants in Venice whose price is less than 35 euro, not including wine.
PRONTO PESCE PRONTO in Pescheria Rialto San Polo
ALL'ACIUGHETA in Castello
LA MASCARETA in calle Lunga Santa Maria Formosa
OSTERIA DA RIOBA in Cannaregio
