The conventional wisdom - - and I have stayed in Venice both IN Venice and on Lido (which is not the same as Lido di Jesolo) - - is stay IN Venice.

And I side squarely with the conventional wisdom. Unless you absolutely can't afford two nights any other way (which was why I was once on Lido with a bunch of teenagers).

Best wishes,

Rex
Lido is a nice place to stay and you can bring your car there, which is a bonus. The boat to Venice is about 5 minutes each way and leaves very regularly. Nothing in the world compares to Venice - it's my favourite place. But I found Lido a nice break at the end of the day.

Lido di Jesolo is not the same as Lido di Venezia. Lido of Jesolo is far from Venice. It's a great place to stay with teenagers, lot of discos but it's not recommended fro visiting Venice.
I live in Venice, if you want to contact me and I'll be glad to help you.
Pier Carlo
