There is both a museum pass and the Venice Card available. The Orange Venice Card covers vaporettos & all of the museums as well as giving you a Chorus Pass for entry to a number of the churches where a fee is payable.

The museum pass itself covers: THE MUSEUMS OF ST MARK'S SQUARE (Doge's Palace, Museo Correr, Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana.
As well as: Ca’ Rezzonico, Palazzo Mocenigo,Carlo Goldoni's House, Ca’ Pesaro, Museo Fortuny, Glass Museum - Murano, Lace Museum – Burano.
It cost 18euro and can be bought at any of the museums.

There's also a museum pass just for the museumn in St Marks square (12 euro).

According to the website, it appears you can buy the blue or orange pass to include transport to the airport. It's about 14 euros extra for that. Does anyone know what kind of transport that is that's incuded and if it's a good deal compared to what it would cost to take regular public transport to the airport?

Actually, it's more like 23 euros etra to include an airport transfer. Anyone know the approximate cost of getting from venice proper to the airport?

there are lots and lots of threads about getting to and from the airport to Venice - but here's a summary.

The transport included in the Venice Card is by Alilaguna - a large water bus. it will take you from the dock (about a 5-10 min walk from the airport terminal) to either Fondamenta Nove, San Marco or the Zattere and it takes a bit over an hour.
You can also take a water taxi which is lovely - and the nicest way to travel - but very expensive (about 20 mins from the airport).
or you can take a normal road bus to Piazzale Roma and then either walk or take a vaporetto. The bus costs about 3 euro & takes about 20 minutes.
Or take a road taxi to Piazzale Roma.

So I gather the Orange Card includes all the museums while the Blue Card does not?

Is there a transport card between 3 and 7 days? 5 or 6 would be nice. Or I guess you can buy two 3-day passes for the vaporretto?

November before last we used a five day vaparetto pass in Venice. I bought it online before we went, then picked it up at the airport. This way we could ride the bus for free to Venice.

We were there longer then five days, so the next to last day we purchased 24 hour passes. I thought they would be validated the first time we used them. The vaparetto police (?) stopped us as we were getting on the next day and we had our passes checked. We were told they were no good. So be careful if you buy passes there as to when the time starts.

we got blue passes when we went last Nov. not much use at all IMO. For some reason we never worked out they were refused at most museums, though got discounts at the glass museum and the Doge's palace.


THey were good for getting into the loos for free [worth while as they are 1E each]

The vaporetto pass would be much more use.
