venice--locanda san barnaba
I'm not even sure where I found this hotel, but out of the hotels that have almost immediate availability, it seems like the best option...BUT it also seems like I'm imagining the hotel, because I can't find anything about it anywhere. Anyone have experience there? Many, many thanks.

Jennifer, it has been a lot of nastiness on this board lately, but this is often happening at late hours, when Fodors editors aren't monitoring the board. It's not always like this.

I made a search typing San Barnaba on the search box, and among the results I retrieved, these are likeling giving you some info about the San Barnaba.
-__________________________________________________ ________

We stayed at Locanda San Barnaba in Dorsoduro. The place has recently been renovated which means good plumbing, good lighting, good air conditioning, and a place to put your things in the bathroom. (Superior room 320,000 a night). We were concerned about taking all our luggage on the vaporetto so we left one at the train station. (But bewarealthough we didn't need to for our own purposes of repacking, I felt obligated to unpack and repack the entire piece of luggage so I could honestly answer no to the airport question of has your luggage been in your possession the entire time since you've packed it.)

Author: Eileen ([email protected])
Date: 09/03/2001, 02:25 pm
Message: Try the Hotel San Barnaba in a wonderful location in Dorsoduro. My husband and I stayed here this past summer and really liked it. We opted for the suite (400,000 IT/night) and it was huge -- had small balconies, overlooking a canal (drained for maintenance at the time we were there) and their courtyard. Very clean, helpful desk staff, and excellent location in the Dorsdoro. It's very near several neat courtyards with lots of wine bars, pizza places, and restaurants. It was also very easy to get to the hotel from the vaporetto -- just a 2 minute walk from the stop to the front door.

Hi, stayed there on our honeymoon in March. It's nice, recently renovated, so the room was very spacious. Although not on the San Marco side, we were able to walk everywhere, and the vaporette is literally right at the corner (very convenient with luggage). They had awesome blood orange juice for breakfast, and the breakfast girl was very helpful. Restaurants around there are full of locals, recommended by Michelin, and well priced. I'd stay there again, especially for the price.
