Venice in Dec 2021

Hi Fodorites,

After 2 years finally planning a trip! We are considering Venice for 1 week in mid December. This will be our third time there, but the world is much different now, so I wanted to get inputs from some recent travelers on what to expect.

Are all the museums, shops and restaurants open?
Does the vaporetto operate all the routes as before?
Anything else to be aware of such as restrictions, closures etc.

Lastly, how is the aqua alta situation these days? We were there many years ago during December and we were blessed with no floods and it was such a beautiful time to be in Venice, so I hope to relive those memories!

Your inputs would be most appreciated.

Thank you!

Are you asking about Covid or because it's December?

Second half of the month is closer to high season then low.

Remember 60k people live in Venice. Ride the vaporettos. Go shopping. Eat out.

Thanks. My questions are related to Covid.
