Venice hotels recommendation
Hello all,
Want to spend 3 nights in Venice beginning of April. There will be 3 of us (and we have been before but we want to just soak up the wonderful Venice atmosphere). Need a good location - decent room with private bath - maybe 130-160 euro? Impossible or not?
Thanks in advance.

Not impossible at all. We stayed at La Forcola in the Cannaregio district when we went to Venice two years ago and we are returning April 2 through 12 this year, taking the adult children this time, and we are staying at La Forcola again. This should be in your price range and includes a breakfast buffet, not just continental breakfast. The location is great as it is right near a vaporetti stop and is within easy walking distance of the train station and Rialto and has many shops and restraunts nearby. Check out their website at www.laforcolahotel.com. We contacted them directly by e-mail at [email protected] and the rate was much reduced from that listed on the website. It sounds like we are going to be there at the same time and I don't know about you but I can hardly wait.

jdraper--we're staying in that area on our trip to Venice in September--staying at the Dei Dogi. Was just wondering what you thought about the area--convenient enough to get around to the sights, feel safe walking at night? Any comments you have would be much appreciated.

almesq - We love the Cannaregio area. It is very close to the Ghetto area and gives you more of a look at the "real" Venice rather than simply the tourist attractions of St. Marks. There are a lot of shops and restraunts within easy walking distance and I felt safe walking around at any hour of the day or night. There is a vaporetti stop a short distance away but we rarely used it as we loved walking along the Strada Nova, which is one of the largest "streets" in Venice. We didn't even consider searching for a hotel in another area as we were so very pleased when we stayed here before. I know it is considered by many to be "off the beaten path" but we found everything to be quite convenient. I am sure you will be pleased as well.

I also vote for La Forcola Hotel. I stayed there in sept 2002. It is right on Strada Nuova, ferry Stop SAN MARCUOLA. Or if you're coming from the Station, you can either take the same ferry or walk (depending on the baggages you have). The hotel is small but clean, there is a lovely breakfast room with buffet breakfast. I would surely go there again.

We stayed in the Cannaregio area as well. We stayed at a townhouse suite called Locanda Cà Le Vele, 2 min. walk from Cà d'Oro vaporetto stop. Perfect location.

My 2 grown daughters and I stayed at Art Deco and really enjoyed it. Would stay there again.
