Venice Hotels

Any suggestions for quality 3 star plus "authentic" Venice hotel with good location - comfort and "style?"

Two words: Locanda Orseolo

Read the comments both here and at Tripadvisor.com. Rooms are getting harder to book due to its popularity.

We really enjoyed the Danieli--it's lovely, and very close to St. Mark's!

We stayed in the Dona Palace, very near St Marks. We were happy with the large and comfortable rooms. There is no restaurant but plenty around the area. It is a 4 star but we got a good rate I think because it is quite new.

Book Locanda Orseolo as fast as you can! Don't wait! Go do it right now. You won't regret it.

Definitely Hotel Antiche Figure. Get a front room overlooking the Grand Canal, preferably one with a little balcony. A small, lovely hotel -- three classy stars!

They were 3* in 2002, but have gone 4. Absolutely wonderful. Great breakfast courtyard, mints on the pillow, had a tub in our bath, small bar/pool table/internet downstairs - but has truly 'Venetian' lobbies as well... nice neighborhood - quiet & convenient... good luck choosing!

hi--We strongly agree w/worldinabag. We also *loved* the Marconi. To me it is all that a hotel should be. However, tastes vary and if one is looking for the "Grand Hotel" type experience, then the Danieli, or the other similar one whose name escapes me, may be more in line w/what one wants.....

Another vote for Locanda Orseolo. Like kelliebellie said- do it now. It's not a big place and books up very fast. Incredible hospitality, very good location, charming rooms, modern baths & great breakfast too. FYI: no elevator

I second La Calcina. We stayed there 3 years ago and just booked for April of next year.

Can't beat their canal deck for breakfast and an afternoon Prosecco! A slice of heaven.

We really liked Hotel Flora and last time we were in Venice they were booked months ahead of time, so we couldn't stay there that time, but obviously others share our opinion. They have a website--not sure of the www, but maybe google them or just do hotelflora.it.
