Venice, Florence & Rome

I will be heading to Italy for my honeymoon in May. I have been reading up on some hotels on fodors.com and need help! If anyone has stayed at a "romantic" (of course!) hotel in any of these regions, please pass on the info.

Any additional tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You!!!!

Kristine
Hotels in those cities are frequently asked for on this forum. Try doing a Search here on Venice hotel, Rome hotel, etc.
People can make new suggestions more easily if you can say how much you want to spend per night and what amenities are required (elevator, a/c, etc)
Don't wait any longer to book hotels; many of the small popular ones will aleady be fully-booked

Kristine,
We stayed at a lovely, small pensione in Venice. It was one of the most beautifully decorated rooms I've had the pleasure of staying in. The walls were upholstered to coordinate with the bedspread and upholstered furniture. IT was not the largest of rooms but very nice. Contact the
Albergo Ateneo
San MArco n. 1876
30124 Venezia
tel # 041 520 0588
fax# 041 522 8550
During the off season it was around
$125 a night. I would book early, hotels fill up quickly in Venice.
Best Wishes!
Gloria

Here's a suggestion for Venice. Next to the Rialto bridge is the Rialto Hotel. It is a very nice hotel, not the grandest in all of Venice, but very nice. If they can guarantee you room #402 go for it. It is one of their largest, most elegantly decorated rooms with a substantial seating area and a spectacular balcony centered over the hotel entrance from which their flags are displayed and there is an unbelievable panorama of one of the grandest parts of the Grand Canal. Two sets of French doors open out onto the balcony from the room. Why is this so special? For the rest of your lives you will run across many pictures of Venice, often of the Rialto bridge and often you will spot that balcony in the picture. Friends just gave us a metal canister of Rialto coffee from Italy on which we can easily spot that balcony where the four of us had many cocktails this summer. How would that be for a souvenier of a honeymoon?
