Often those cheap fares aren't so great if you add in the time and cost of getting to and from where you really want to go. Not to speak of the wear and tear on you and the child.
If you do change your flight to arrive in Venice, look into taking the Alilaguna shuttle boat into town. The fare is 15€ and you get to arrive in beautiful Venice by water.
