Venice - baroque recitals
My wife and I are looking forward to attending some classical concerts while in Venice next month - particuary Baroque/chamber music. I've searched the web with little success. Can anyone recommend good venues, where to find out advance programmes and buy tickets once we arrive in Venice...?

Thank you.

I'm sure you will enjoy listening to Rondo Veneziano. No need to buy tickets before you go; they have people all over town walking around in period costume selling tickets. They perform in a church in Rialto. Their website is http://users.iol.it/rondoxxx/indexx.html

Gordon,
As Holly said, you can get the tickets once you arrive. They sold them in our hotel in March and I saw the signs in several other hotels I walked by. Also, we bought ours at the church where the performance took place. It was near the Rialto, as Holly said, although the name of the church escapes me.

We are going again in October and this time I want to hear a concert in the church on the Riva degli Schiavoni (sp?) known as the Pieta. It is where Vivaldi was a priest and taught the young orphan girls music. Seems like an appropriate venue to listen to his compositions!

Have a great time!
Ciao,
luigi

Many thanks to Holly, Richard and Luigi for great suggestions.

I visited the Rondo Veneziano website - what an incredible coincidence though:- I'm sure it was the same group we saw playing in the Italian bit of EPCOT in WDW Florida last November. If so, we're delighted, the music helped form some great memories of that day.

We'll definitely look into the Pieta Church when we get there - can't wait.
