I know what' I'm talking about.
I've seen both B&Bs with breakfast and "whole home" rentals on Airbnb.
B&Bs are priced low so those higher taxes must not have as big a bite.
Because in general STRs cost more because you have more dedicated space.

In Amsterdam you need a permit for a short term holiday rental, for which you get a number. The maximum number of nights you are allowed to rent out is 30 per year. Most airbnb's in Amsterdam operate illegally.
The article I posted does say that housing that was previously rented illegally through Airbnb is now becoming available for the local market;
Die-hard airbnb fans just refuse to acknowledge the reality of the situation in some cities.
There are places where airbnb and others are very welcome; in resort-type areas, in the countryside.
And if you can rent out your own home while you are on holiday, for a maximum of 30 days a year, that is fine too.
