Have used them several times. Two days seems about average. Some were faster, but some were slower, especially at this time of year. I don't think I ever waited more than a week and then the hotel apologized saying their e-mail had been having problems.

I tried to use venere.com last summer and was very frustrated. I got an initial confirmation from them, with a statement that the hotel booking was not really confirmed until I had direct confirmation from the hotel. After several weeks and lots of emails I finally emailed the hotel directly and was told by the hotel that they no longer booked through venere. Fortunately there were still rooms available. But I wouldn't let it go too long, given my experience.

I found better rates than on that web site (and others) by emailing directly to the hotel. I always check the rates both ways. In any event, even if the rate they give you is the same as on that web site, Albergo del Senato was pretty good about returning my email in a day or two. They are very happy to help you with any other plans like day excursions, hotel transfers, and restaurant reservations.

I will agree with Miche67
some family of mine were going to book the Rome Minerva hotel via venere.it, but found a "winter special" when they inquired directly with the hotel.
This is very often the case, not just with venere, but with hotel group websites in general.
