Validity of Paris Metro Tickets

I just came across some old turquoise colored metro tickets purchased four years ago.

Are they still valid?

I don't know if yours are, but I can tell you I had three in an old jacket pocket from a trip two and a half years ago that worked when I returned last spring.

Individual Métro tickets are valid indefinitely.

No, Travelnut, there is a much better way to find out. Nina, send me to Paris with those tickets and I'll let you know. And I promise I'll only use one of them to find out.

but Patrick, just because one works, doesn't mean they ALL will... you will need to extend your stay so that you test all of the tickets. That's the only way to really be sure.

... and please don't store them next to anything 'magnetic' or your test will be in vain.

Thank you for the generous offers to use my tickets, but you're too late. I will be using them myself next Thursday when I arrive in Paris for four weeks. You are most generous for offering to take them off my hands. ;-)

Since I can't verify for sure that telecartes expire in 6 months, I've read yes and no on the board, I would be willing to test anyone's card next week if you are as curious as I am.

See I too can be generous and willing to help other Fodorites ;-)

If the tickets do not work, the attendant in the booth will usually exchange it for a valid one.

Thanks Michael, that's nice to hear because I just found 8 tickets buried away.

Whoops, I meant to thank Anthony too. As for you other wise guys .... I have enough for all of us to take one ride each.

I miss the first and second class metro trains - that was the only time in my life that I could afford to pay for first class transportation!
