I have been working for a small rep group for 3 years and I get paid based on sales not on activity. Our first staff meeting of the year was to put all of the business and personal travel that three of us have scheduled for the year into the master calendar. My employer is generous and we don't even count or track the vacation. He still says I don't take enough time off and I have averaged three weeks the last three years. This year I will go to Paris for 2 weeks and then probably two four day weekends. I am very lucky though and the exception. It seems that the trend is to fewer benefits rather than more in US. The upside/downside is that my sweetie is lucky to get one week a year paid and anything else is unpaid so I travel on my own a lot.
