using Viamichelin.com to plan bicycle routes

I just found out from a cycling website that viamichelin.com has an option to plan a cycling route. Just below the Destination info, there is 'options'. Click on that and you can then select 'by bike'

I tested it on a route I have taken twice from Onzain to Chenonceaux and it selected the same route I had taken. I was impressed.

I know there aren't many cycling questions asked on Fodor's, but there are some and I thought I would pass this along.

We're heading to Tuscany in June, and my husband and son plan on doing some decent biking. This sounds like a good resource.

Since we love to bike, I'm thrilled to see this option available. I am curious though, did it take you on the those lesser travelled "D" roads.

Next question. Do you take your own bike with you? Finding really good rental bikes has always been one of our greatest challenges.

We found google map was very helpful in Tuscany for two reasons
1) it now has elevations so (given the state of our knees) we could take the easy routes and
2) on the local maps the road often stops but switching to satalite you can see the road continues say through the grass.

All this we planned but when we were there we also tried overlaying hotels on google and it worked. This ended up vital as we found ourselves without a room for the night with nothing else local. In the end google found us a room, we rang it and checked in

I take my bike with me (one trip, I bought a bike in London).

ON Michelin 1:200,000 maps I take either white or yellow roads - usually D roads with 3 or 4 digits if possible.
