Using Priceline for an Amsterdam hotel
I have used Priceline often for US hotels with great results.
We're going to Amsterdam in April. I want to use Priceline but worry there might be problems because we're in the US and we're booking in Amsterdam.
Can anyone reassure me that Priceline is fine for booking hotels in Amsterdam?

I think www.biddingfortravel.com is the best site for reassurance about using priceline, no matter where you are going. Here's the biddingfortravel link for holland:

We used Priceline for a room in Amsterdam last September. We bid 5* and got the Hilton, can't quite remember the price but it was about $125. Some reviews said that it was too far from the sites, I couldn't disagree more. It was a great location, 5 min walk over to the main area, nice nice room and cheep for Amsterdam prices. We also arrived at the hotel about 7:00 in the morning from Africa and were worried that since it was priceline they wouldn't give us a room early, again, couldn't have been more wrong. We were checked in and in bed by 8:30. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.
Just for comparison, we stayed in Amsterdam for two nights before we went to Africa, in the Canal House, which was a lovely introduction to Amsterdam, but, our room was half the size at double the cost!

The Moevenpick hotel in the central Amsterdam zone is too far out for some people, as it's somewhat removed from the city centre. If you are okay with the entire area of the zone, then bidding in the City Center/Museum Quarter zone should be fine. Also, it is possible that a hotel that hasn't shown up so far could show up for your bid - no list can keep 100% current.
I always research the hotels in the area using other sources to make sure I would be okay with any of the possibilities.
