Good Morning America! Hey guys - I'm wondering if someone over there can give me the current U.S $/Italian Lire exchange rate please?
I've got it about 2.000 LIRE = $1. Am I anywhere near? Maths never was my strongest subject ...
Thanks in advance.

Steve

As I write, it's 2285.50 lire to the US$, slightly down on yesterday's 2294.50. When exchanging money, you normally lose around 2-3% on rates plus $2-4 per transaction. So anything above 2216 lire is pretty good plus your transaction fee (which is set by your bank). At 2000 lire that's around 12.5% below, and unless you changed very small amount of $$$, in which case the flat fee has a disproportionate effect on rates, it seems rather a poor deal.

You can feel secure about the lire not falling below the 2000-to-a-dollar mark. It has remained above that plateau for at least two years.
