Is a visit to the Titanic the ultimate trip?

I suppose if that is your final resting place it would be. Undoubtedly, someone here will tell you that flying there is better than taking a boat!

A trip on the Titanic might be, although I wouldn't go near a cruise. As for going in some submarine to see the wreck which you can see for nothing on the television - madness, grow up!

I am somewhat of a Titanic buff, but I'd also say no. People with no real interest in the Titanic, or those who are claustrophic, for example, would never think of that as the ultimate trip.

I think everyone's definition of the ultimate trip is different, so there is no one answer:

A flight on SpaceShipOne? A trip to Antarctica? Exploring the Amazon? The Great Barrier Reef? Visiting Angkor Wat? Heck, for some, a trip to Paris could be their ultimate trip!

There are so many places that people could define as their "ultimate" trip. Is a trip the the Titanic YOUR ultimate trip? If so, why?

What color fins should you wear on a deep dive like that one? Yellow for better visability?

This gives me hope for the American economy that so many of us can take the time at work to read this stuff and respond to it. America is on the way back!

Okay, so what IS the ultimate trip?

Round the world...with stops in Paris, Venice, Istanbul, the Seychelles, Angkor Wat, Kyoto, Sydney, Maui, Macchu Pichu and San Francisco?

Or what?

I suppose it would be better to go down to the Titanic, that with it.

The ultimate trip? I think RTW too, but I'm still not entirely convinced I would do it. Missing the family and the pups and such.

Right now, the two trips I'd really love to do would be 1) Bhutan or 2) A combo of Mali and Morocco. These are two that I'd seriously like to work out in the coming years. Not the only ones and probably not the next ones, but major contenders.

GSteed - What possessed you to ask such a
question? Wouldn't even make the top 20 in my book.

Typo: I suppose it would be better to go down to the Titanic, than with it.

Bravo for Morocco and Mali, Clifton.
Have you researched both yet ? I know Morocco is great fro travelling and theres lots to see, but I'm not sure whether Mali has the supporting infrastructure, and getting about in limited time could be a headache. Still, definitely a place to see. Good luck and keep us informed.

My ultimate trip is one that will probably not be available, or at least not affordable, in my lifetime. That would be a ride on the space shuttle. Then I could see the entire world at once.

But if I can't have that, I would love to see more of the African continent. I have been to Morocco and Egypt, but I would like to see many other parts, such as Kenya and South Africa. Another dream of mine is to see Israel, but every time I tried to plan it, things got cancelled because of the unrest in that part of the world. I WILL go there someday, but I don't think now is the best time.

As for the Titanic, that would be interesting, but I don't think I could take the clausterphobia of riding in that tiny little sub to get there.

Mathieu,

Time would be the hard part... always is.

I've read on Djenne, Mopti and the Dogon areas and people. Toumbouctoo sounds like a place where people get "stuck" for transportation. I guess that goes with the reputation! Fascinating sounding countries to me.
