Ultimate European Vacation!
I have been to England about two times now, and I love it there!! However, some of my friends have told me that instead of spending my $$$ on england again, to try a different place. Does anyone have any suggestions on my next trip?? I'm open to any peoples, adventures, culture, etc. I dont care if its a cold climate, etc. but I would like it to be affordable (I'm in college) Any suggestions?

The further south you go, the less expensive it gets (with the exception of the French Riviera); country is cheaper than city.
Sicily; Malta; Greek island; Portugal.
North of Ireland, Wales, Scotland are also reasonably priced; and with lots of history and scenery.

For me, so far, it is a toss up between France and Scotland. France is much more reasonably priced - especially outside of Paris. Becuase the country is so large, the scenery is greatly varied along with the architecture foods, and affects/historical remains.

Tiffany,
Consider the Netherlands and Belgium. You'll find a diversity of languages, customs and cultures in a relatively small area. You can both economize and get close to the Netherlanders by visiting their tourist offices (almost every town, no matter how small has one). These offices can arrange for accommodations for you in private homes - inexpensive and a wonderful opportunity to meet the "natives". Both Belgium and the Netherlands have excellent rail systems so it's easy to get about.

Votes for France and Italy! If you are coming from the U.S., exchange rates make both a bargain. The variety of scenery is breathtaking, the art and architecture stunning, and the people friendly. Try to spend time in smaller villages as well as the major cities, in order to experience the full charm of these countries.

Tiffany: The French countryside would not necessarily be inexpensive, but certainly more reasonable than the city or the Riviera.
I like Wes' idea of the Netherlands and the Benelux. It's a wonderful area(s) with many things to see and do. The food is great, the sites, the people and the history are all more than worth it. There are many (enjoyable) ways that you can keep your costs down. Easy to get around knowing only english, if that's the case.
Good luck!

Tiffany, I am a college student myself and found Eastern Europe to be much much more affordable these days than the west. Western Europe does not have anything on countries like Poland, Czech, and Hungary in terms of history, architecture, or beer. The choice is simple, go to Eastern Europe!!!!

The Greek islands are affordable and beautiful. The Greek people are great, and you can easily see a lot of the culture.
Climate is hot in the summer (80-90 Farenheit in July and August), mild in the spring (April onwards) and autumn (up to end of October), but not so good from November to March. Many of the lodgings/bars/restaurants close during this winter period.

I recently came back from a 3 week trip to Europe. My husband is from Italy and we spent 2 weeks there. Fabulous. I never tire of it. But this time we also spent 6 days in Germany (Bavaria) and I was very impressed. The area is breathtaking, the people were friendly, the food was delicious, and there was so much to do. Plus, the exchange is excellent right now.
