UK Rail Strike, May 2004
Today's Daily Mail has reported that it is highly likely that 7,000 rail maintenance, signalling and station staff will be involved in a 24 or 48-hour strike over pay and pensions on or around May 31st 2004.
Will post back here if there are any further developments.

I'd sack the lot of them, they cause chaos in London by their actions. Unfortunately, one cannot simply sack people these days, all this tribunal nonsense.
Just for comparison, a tube driver is on pay around 34k GBP p.a. , a newly qualified nurse is on around 16k GBP p.a. and a doctor around 20k GBP. Two help in restoring lives, one moves people from A to B. Their wage is well above the average wage rate, I'd go as far as saying that they are in fact overpaid.
I say sack them for their uncalled for greed.

Andrewmac a big thanks - If it wasn't for your previous post about booking rail tickets we would still be in the dark. Thanks to you we are able to get a special price by booking two days in advance (Paddington-Bath, 19.00 return) and are only paying 8.50 Par to Bristol and the 7.20 Bristol- Cardiff (which was cheaper than booking with one train company). Cardiff-London will only be 23.50 on an apex ticket.
I am so pleased. I presume I can book these tickets at Euston. Thanks again.
