UK Magazines
After visiting the VISITBRITAIN website, I received an offer for In Britain magazine at a rate of $21.97 per year. It claims to be the official magazine of VISITBRITAIN and to cover history, culture and heritage.
I'd appreciate feedback on this magazine & rate. Would also like to hear about other UK magazines for visitors and people who love the UK.

I used to subscribe to In Britain, but dropped it a couple of years ago when VISITBRITAIN contracted out the publishing, which shallowed the content (more articles, less depth), raised the price and dropped the excellent diary of things to do in the coming months (go to the web for that!).
If $21.97 is for 12 issues, I might take a new look at the mag; if it is for 6 I think I can continue to get along without it. But I have kept the old issues and consult them on occasion.

I suscribe to several UK magazines. In Britain and Realm are two of my favorites for travel/scenery/history. Both have more pretty pictures than in depth/cutting edge articles but I do learn something new from almost every issue.
They both also have valuable adverts for local car hire companies, London flats, narrowboat holidays, etc.
In Britain has been around for years and is very reputable - it has been the official magazine of the British Tourist Authority (now called VisitBritain) for at least 35 years and probably longer.

ron and I were posting at the same time. In Britain and Realm both put out 6 issues a year.
Other publications to check out (some of these are published in the US) Scottish Life, British Heritage, English Gardens, Country Life (this one is REALLY expensive - over $200/year but it is a weekly), and several others

You might want to give British Heritage Magazine a look. I have subscribed to it for years. It's a very informative magazine with alot a great articles about all things British. Here is a link to their webpage. http://www.britishheritage.com/index.htm You can also purchase British Heritage at Borders or Barnes and Nobles here in the states.
