As if they were given any choice. Had Vicky not conquered the planet and bread such a ..., Willy would have never been born.
>Brits who wanted to hang the Kaiser at the end of WW2.
They wanted to dig him out and hang him. Only the brits can be so wicked to hang a dead guy.

>>As if they were given any choice. <<

Bismarck wasn't, if I recall correctly, a British royal. And you're surely not suggesting that Kaiser Bill had no father?

What could Bismarck have done? Nothing. He didn't like him either and he had no influence on him at that time. The evil genes come from the FEMALE side. I mean everybody today knows just how evil Vicky was. Conquering, killing and enslaving most nations.

Hydrogen bomb?

Hitler didn't even have enough critical material to build a single low-yield fission device, much less a thermonuclear one.

But let's concede that point and go on: how do you propose that a nuke or two could have stemmed the Red Tide that had been overwhelming Germany from the east ever since Stalingrad - never mind the Anglo-Canadian-American steamroller in the west?

>enough critical material
afaik, the last shipments from Bohemia were sent to Japan, but never reached it, instead they became part of "little boy".

People don't die fast enough..., thank god, nowadays we've got aids..
(Not that a decent H-bomb would not do the job too). I always wondered, what they would answer, if I ordered one from Siemens and how long delivery would take? Critical mass can't be that much. DHL delivers for a flat rate up to 20kg.

Maybe, but at least we don't cry for help from the editors on about how we feel insulted.

Achtung! Ahem - since Fodor's is German owned - some respect please.

>>Tories call for Boxing Day rail services<<

Of course they do: they're in opposition.>

Then why are the in-power Liberals calling for it as well, i understand?

And why does it surprise me that Fodor Brits, largely upscale and not depending on public transit would pooh pooh Boxing Day or even Xmas Day trains?

Yeh it's the millions of more pedestrian Brits not on Fodor's who need public transit - to get to work on store sales, hotel chambermaids, etc. Folks that may not have cars.

Yeh it's so easy for CW types to motor anywhere so he does not see the need of others - typical Tory attitude - who cares about others?

A Simple Plan:

Have the ethnics that don't observe the 25th December as anything special - and don't need to be gathered 'round the festive hearth - run at least TfL. There's probably enough Muslims on staff to run the whole of the Tube and bus networks. I know there are on a typical non-holiday.

The Jews can staff the shops.

I frequently read those scriptures of Buddha, you find in the drawer in many hotels. I don't understand them, but I don't claim, I understand those christian bibles either. Anyway I won't get much furter than "In the beginning" anyway. Those teachings of Buddah books at least have some cool stories. The guy that wrote them sure must have hated women???

If you read that book in the drawer, you'll find the answer to THAT question.

Chumley, my sweet, I don't THINK I'm any of those things - certainly not alcoholic anyway.

Now my mother's English brothers (mother was born here) - one or two or possibly all of them had a problem with the demon drink. Mother doesn't drink at all.

If you do go on the trains in that period you will think you have walked onto the set of 28 days later.>>

i put my mum on the train today.

our local station looked more like mumbai than redruth. I was half ecpecting some of those chaps who push passnegers onto Japanese trains to turn up.

memo to self - enjoy mother's company for a day or two longer rather than endure the hell of the first day of real trains after christmas.

<<What you have to get into your head is that Britain to all intents and purposes stops functioning from 24/12 - 5/1.>>

and the french think they invented "faire le pont". we could win olympic medals at it. if nothing else.

regards, ann

Ummm - if there is NO demand for Boxing Day trains then why are the days after 26th so hectic on trains.

I smell a rat somewhere here.
