Uffizi gallery question...
Can anyone tell me if Bottichelli's "The Birth of Venus" and "Allegory of Spring" are up for viewing? I believe cyberUK mentioned in a recent post that the Uffizi gallery is a mess and that some of the Bottichelli's are on loan. I really had my heart set on seeing these two paintings while in Florence May 14 and 15. I have checked the Uffizi webpage but can not find any info on this.

It is not "a mess"...the top floor which is where most of the big draws are, is fine, which includes the Botticellis. You will see them, don't worry. The lower floors are partially closed and obviously under construction.

Thanks amyb! I guess I am getting my usual pre trip jitters! We are having some trouble with transportation changes due to strikes and I just do want to miss some of my favorite paintings! I know that travel changes occur each time we travel but they make me nervous since I am the type to "plan everyghing out" in advance

If you are a fan of Botticelli, you might want to catch the special Botticelli and Lippi exhibit at the Palazzo Strozzi: www.botticellipalazzostrozzi.it
