boy the standards sure have changed since I was in college, back then we actually had to do our own research...the internet is a wonderful thing, just remember you cannot cite Mickey Mouse as a legitimate reference, It is against APA guidelines.

Gee, 123, guess I don't get the difference. In your day, you'd go to a library and look up printed information which may have been greatly out of date and copy it, alter it, and make a report. Today a student goes to the internet and gets up to date information from people who know. Since this is about "lifestyles", I'm not sure where else she should be looking. The encyclopedia hardly seems appropriate. Research today is done this way. Get with the program.<BR>But please note, I'm not trying to justify a student asking a question like this to get basic factual information, although that is also best obtained from the internet. This is research of opinions or personal observations, which is different.

People in Belgium sleep standing up. They only shop at night. Working hours are noon until 2 pm. Popular leisure activities include snail racing, waffle painting, and making faces at the TV. The most popular sport is curling.<BR><BR>And you know it's true because you read it on the Internet.<BR><BR>Does this explain why it is better to do real research, whether or not you do it online, than to just ask somebody on the Net to give you the answers?

Okay, now that you have been ridiculed - - do a search on myriam - - and then ask if you might be allowed to write to her (she gives hre real e-mail address here) and "interview" her online.<BR><BR>Try also some chat rooms for Belgium or look on - - what's that "virtual traveler" website? (somebody help me here) - - they have members from every country everywhere.<BR><BR>In short, make a few friends over the internet who are actually FROM Belgium.<BR>

My life isn't necessarily the same as my neighbour's!<BR>Unless you're from somewhere deep in the African bush or from an Arab royal family (just to name two opposites) I guess your and my life will be pretty much the same. I mean: we sleep, eat, children go to school, adults work - be it as a housewife/houseman or outside, some fulltime, some parttime, we go shopping, watch TV, go to the movies, to the fitness centre, play football or tennis or whatever, we travel.<BR>Could you come up with more specific questions?

Ok, smarty, rintintin or whoever, where do you suppose someone should research such a question as getting personal viewpoints on how a typical person in Belgium spends his day? Note. He isn't asking facts like the square kms or population, but rather a personal viewpoint. Where would you find that??<BR>

I happen to have a couple of Belgian friends, so to please xxx, I will impart personal information about one of them. He is a vegetarian, works at home, lives in an old house that hasn't been renovated so it doesn't have a shower, and studies Japanese for fun. All of this is true. So do you now know a lot about the typical Belgian lifestyle?
