I would check prices both in the U.S. and in Switzerland - sometimes U.S. has special deals not available in Switzerland and vice versa and often the price IME for the exact same pass can be often cheaper here than there - plus you have no foreign exchange fees - for U.S. prices check www.raialeurope.com - the wholesaler of these passes (RE is part owned by the Swiss Federal Railways) or their agents who often IME give more personal service - like www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com - I've bought passes from Byron there for years and he will expertly answer any question even if not buying - pass prices are all the same set price by RE but there can be handling and or mailing fees so ask about that.
So check both and take the best deal - at least check for specials on each end - like a current special on first-class passes from RE and agents.
You can buy them at any Swiss train station, inlcuding Zurich Airport.

I'm planning a trip of my own to the BO in Switzerland next summer, and I was told to avoid a base in Interlaken, so I'm staying in Wengen. I've been told to look at Wengen, Murren, or Lauterbrunnen.
