I guess the lesson is take two credit cards but leave one w/your passport in the hotel safe while you are out exploring. As I am single I would have the added problem of no hubby at home to even call w/cc info.
I'm sorry that you went thru so much Sheila and I'm not wild about the security pouches and belts either.
Did Sheila say she bought white Reeboks? I'm sure there are other things that give tourists away besides the shoes but frankly I want to have my camera and guide book with me and I guess that isn't going to change either.

So sorry to hear about your misfortunes. It seems that even the most travel savvy can fall prey to scam artists. They do this for a "living" so I guess they become very good at it.
Better luck on your next "adventure".

PDX, I'm sorry- it was my delivery which was flat. I knew you were being lighthearted, and I grovel apologetically for sounding grumpy about it.
I am one of those folk who, within reason, doesn't care if I look like a tourist or not. If I'm a tourist, I'm a tourist.
I was carrying a map, wearing trousers and a sleeveless shirt, with a plastic bag of shopping and my shoulder bag. The shoes were probably the only non-touristy thing about me!!
Sorry again.

All's well and there will be no groveling, thank you.
I agree with the tourist thing, I yam what I yam and no amount of fixing me up is going to make me look like a local carrying a camera and a map. And I can't wear high-heeled shoes and walk at the same time, anyway.
