Two Hotels called "le Regent"?
I'm confused. Just realized there are two hotels with the name le Regent - one on rue Madam and one on rue Dauphine. Pros and cons of each? The one on Dauphine is written up in Fodors hotels of charm. Can't find any info on the Rue Madam one. Can anyone who's stayed at either one help? We'll be going to Paris in January next year.

The hotel on rue Madame is called Regent's Hotel. It is a 2-star, and therefore somewhat less expensive than the 3-star Le Regent, but still quite charming, according to many posters on this forum. (Do a search for "Regent Paris" and you should get most of the remarks re both.) Both are in the 6th. <BR> <BR>REGENT'S: http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75006regs.htm <BR> <BR>LE REGENT: http://www.globe-market.com/h75006regent.htm

Last week I inquired as to availability at the Regent (rue Dauphine) they required a C/C # with the request. They Fx'd a reply stating my credit card would be charged 5760ff as a deposit forefit if I did not confirm within 7 days. I cancelled. Bonne Chance with those people.( for mid Oct yet)

George <BR>I can only think that there was some error on someone's part or a misunderstanding. <BR>I have made room inquiries with le Regent on rue Dauphine a few times by both email and fax, including just last week. They included in their response a cancellation policy if the room was not canceled with a certain amount of advance notice (can't remember if it was 48 or 72 hours), but they made absolutely no mention of charging me if I failed to confirm, only if I failed to cancel once the reservation was made. <BR>Did you deal directly with the hotel, or via a reservation clearing house of some kind? <BR>When I contacted one hotel via <BR>www.hotelboulevard.com, can't remember if it was le Regent or some other, <BR>they requested my credit card number in advance, but I just left it blank. <BR>I don't provide that information to any business when I am just inquiring.
