Thank you to everyone that read my start and an extra thank you to the folks that commented. I got hung up on uploading and editing photos - first time doing this for me, and it was very time consuming! I did finally get the first batch done and here they are. I got lazy in the Ravello portion, soooo many to go through! Sorry for a few duplicates. No thoughtful or artistic pictures here, just a girl in awe of her surroundings that forgot to bring a camera! iPhone only.

I am working on finishing the AC portion!

Thanks Limmy. Luv your title. Sounds like what we get up to but we call ourselves "Dumb and Dumber on tour". Then we "argue" about who's Dumb and who's Dumber. Like it really matters!! Luv your dog - what a cutie. Also liked your food photos. The tuna fillets in a jar look amazing.

Thank you worldinabag. Haha! Dumb and Dumber - and arguing about it, that's great! The jarred tuna there is so good. I have tried jarred tuna imported from Italy at home in the states and it's not the same as what I get there. I don't know if this is a placebo effect or not, but I guess it doesn't much matter if it is

Vivaro's and Poor Man's Mr. Ripley

I had been to Vivaro's before & not only had good food but a rather eventful night. DH was into the no menu concept so this was an easy pick. The owner visits our table and talks to us about what foods we like, then returns with wine for each of us. There was a table of 3 seated diagonal from us. You know when you're at a party and you find yourself in conversation with someone that is full of bombastic claims & stories? They do all the talking & dominate the conversation. You think gosh this person is obnoxious but try to just grin & bear it until the exchange is over. But sometimes eventually they just blow too much smoke and you think this person is a pathological liar & possibly a sociopath. THAT GUY was at this table of three. He was relentless with his swagger, and loud. I'm just kinda taking it in & figuring out the dynamics of this threesome and then it hit me! This whole scene is out of the talented mr Ripley! He is the poor man Mr Ripley! I excitedly tell DH my findings when the table is out for a cigarette. DH asks why poor-man? And I say you know, because Praiano. As in not Positano or Capri. So even though this guy is suffocating, I'm truly fascinated by this table.

We are served a huge dinner. Seabass & greens for me followed by pasta with shellfish. A giant cut of beef followed by pasta with meat sauce for DH. These were the biggest portions we'd have on the whole trip. We moved to the bar counter after the meal to finish our wine. We met an nice couple that were there on their destination wedding/honeymoon. They rented Ducatis & were touring a lot of the country via two wheels. I was certainly impressed & intrigued by that and they were really cool to talk to. Gennaro the owner, poured us some grappa. I had to check my chest for hairs after that. That stuff is no joke. Before leaving we did end up mixing with The Ripley Party a bit, and I stand by my assessment, this guy was bad news bears (okay not necessarily a murderer and identity thief, but unsavory at least). Also talked with a very cool and cute young man from Germany, he got very excited upon hearing that we were from Detroit. He was really into the Bad Boys (Pistons) and the industrial/industrial fallout nature of the city and explained that he came from a town in Germany that shares some parallels with it. We talked about sports and music and cars - no surprise it was an easy time talking with him and he had a great spirit. At the tail end of the night everyone was outside the restaurant talking, drinking, smoking, carrying-on, and just before leaving two girls walked up and hopped on a moped parked where we were all standing. I recognized one of them the as our waitress from San Gennaro Trattoria. She had served us twice so far and I was kinda charmed by her, she was beautiful and so shy, almost awkwardly, and very sweet. DH turned to them and said, "go fast" or something like that, and flexed his wrists like giving gas, they giggled and sure enough, gave it some juice and peeled out petty strong. I had an "I love this town" moment. Perfect night to cap our beautiful day in Ravello.
