Tuscany charm??

staying in florence for 2 nights but would like to stay just outside in tuscany for 2 nights, someplace with that tuscan charm but accessible by train. Any suggestions of places that people have stayed and loved?

We stayed in Siena and really enjoyed it, its a pretty big town and probably has train or bus connections.

Siena is a good choice. The bus is a better way to get there. The train station is outside of town, whereas the bus let you out much closer to the center.

Santa Caterina just outside the Porto Romano was wonderful. An easy walk or short bus ride (the stop is just outside the hotel) to historic center. Only one room had a balcony (so make sure to request it) and the view was everything you think of when you think Tuscany. The room and bath were a decent size, with a clean, uncluttered decor. But I particularly loved the breakfast in the gorgeous garden with the same view as our room. Almost didn't want to leave to continue our travels.

If you actually want JUST outside Florence, look at Fiesole. Historically linked at the hip to Florence, and with some lovely hotels and killer views OF Florence.

easy access by bus all day.

Dear lovetotravel777,
Another vote for the Hotel Santa Catarina.
We are booked to stay there for 4 nights in late September. We liked how central it was to the other cities we wanted to see and the reviews here, of Siena's charm had us hooked right away.

toni g b, I am so excited to hear you loved the Hotel SC!!! We read so many great reviews that we immediately wanted to stay there...and I am an avid gardener, so I fell in love with the view and gardens (online)--can't wait to see them in person.

lovetotravel, when will you be in Tuscany?
