Tuscany and French Riviera
I'm spending my 40th birthday with my husband in Tuscany and the French Riviera next August. I would like some input on itineraries. We hope to spend 10 - 12 days, ending up in France hanging on the beach for 3 - 4 days. Any suggestions? Also recommendations on hotels would be fabulous!!

I can comment on French Riviera. First thought is that if you are renting a car....be prepared to get stuck in traffic in August, particularly around St Tropez area. I Holiday on Riviera every year and my fave places to visit are; St Tropez ( take the boat from Port Grimmaud or Frejus/ San Rafael), best time to visit is early evening; Gassin, small hilltop village overlooking St Tropez bay;If you have the time to drive along Esterel Corniche you will find the views stunning and some great little beaches, particularly around Agay and Theoule Sur Le Mer. It's lovley place.Enjoy your trip.

We stayed in the Palazzo Ravizza in Siena and really enjoyed it. Some highlights of our Tuscan time were Pienza, Montalcino and the abbey in Sant' Antimo. Will you be driving or taking the train to the Riviera? We train-ed it and loved the ride. If you have time to explore Umbria it's well worth it. Perugia is fantastic!
