Turkish Visa

I am traveling to Greece and Turkey in april with my wife and 2 sons. We are all US citizens. Are there any visa requirements for Turkey?

Yes, there is a visa requirement. The visa is $45 USD each. We bought it on the ferry from Rhodes to Marmaris - it didn't have to be purchased in advance. We did need US $ (we're Canadian, but always carry some US cash).

We loved Greece, but Turkey was amazing. We spent only 1 week there, but intend to go back again (probably in 2002) and see a lot more. I envy you. Have a great trip!

From what I've read, the visas are easily purchased at the airport upon arrival, so no need to worry about getting them before you go. I'm also going to Turkey, so it's something I've paid attention to.
Hi! We were in Turkey in October. The Visa is no problem, just bring $45 USD for each visa. We got it at the airport by immigration. It's worth it.
alan

It might be worth checking what denomination notes you can use.

The visa for a UK citizen is £10. We can pay in £5 or £10 notes, but we can't use a £20 note to pay for 2, for example.

It might be worth checking out whether there are any restrictions on the denomination of notes you can use.

UK citizens have to pay £10 for a Turkish visa, at the airport in Turkey. However, each of us must use a £10 note, or two £5 notes. We can't use a £20 note to pay for two of us.

USA citizens must purchase a visa and as mentioned, it costs $45 per person. They will only accept cash---so you will need $180 in cash for the four of you. You purchase it just before passport control and for $45, they place a stamp in your passport.
We thoroughly enjoy travelling in Turkey and have a write-up for first time visitors to Istanbul. If you want a copy, just email us. But there is a cost---you have to share you trip with us when you return !
Enjoy Turkey
