Turkish Visa $100?

It was my understanding that a visa to Turkey for a U.S. citizen was about $20. However, when I went to the Turkish embassy on-line, it indicated that the visa fee was $100! Has anyone else heard about this change?

It has been $100.00 for sometime now and if I remember correctly, it was changed in retaliation of some entry requirements the US made, that many countries resented.

There were several threads at the time it took place, which you should be able to find if you do a search.

Hi js,

I think the price dropped on April 1, 2004.

Thanks for the info. Even though I have gotten some mixed messages in the posts, I will go under the assumption it is $20 now. Is it fast and easy to get one once you are there or should we get one ahead of time?

depends on what you would have to do to getit at home. I got visa on arrival - line up was very short and it was a simple process. If memory serves we had to wait for our bags after getting the visa - so unless you are travelling with carry on and it is very convenient for you to get the visa at home - just wait and get it there

Just returned. It is a $20 fee. The process is quick and simple- before going through immigration, got the visa counter to the left.

cmt - when you get off the plane and before getting your luggage, there is a desk where you pay your money (USD)and they stamp the visa into your passport. Real quick. This was one of many visas that I didn't bother to get by mail - rather right there are the airport.
