Turkish guide in Istanbul required.

We normally travel independently but we feel it may be advantageous to hire a guide for at least one day while we are in Istanbul. We plan to stay at least 6 days in Istanbul and thought hiring a good guide for one of them may give us a good insight to the city.
Do you think that this is necessary and if so can anyone give us some recommendations?
Thank you.
Richard,
Just my personal opinion, but I think 6 nights in Istanbul is a litte much unless you have other reasons for your vist.
Most of the sights in Istanbul are in the Sultanmet area that can be done in 2-3 days.

Hi Richard, Our trip to Ephesus was concelled on the Brilliance of the years. You will find Turkey fascinating! Two years ago we used a wonderful, funny and informative tour guide. His name was Levent Salmaz. We had to cancel his this year but look forward to visiting Turkey again and using his services. He can be reached at [email protected]. Please tell him that Mari says Hi.

I second the recommendation of Mehmet Ozbalci at Turfantastik. He was a wonderful guide, also picked us up from airport and dropped us off a cruise ship dock. We had him for two full days and got a great overview of the sights, shopping and a short cruise down the Bosphorus. I hope you contact him. I was so pleased with our experience. Got the recommendation from this Board and MUST repay the favor.
