Turkey Open Ended Question
Hi
We booked airfare to turkey arriving Wednesday 9/29/10 at 5:00PM and leaving on Sunday 10/10/10 so we will be their 10 whole days. I looked into a flight from Istanbul Thursday morning to Cappadochia and fly out of cappadochia Saturday afternoon to Ismur and fly from Ismur to Istanbul on Thursday and spend through Saturday in Istanbul. I would prefer to drive the whole thing. How diificult would that be? I f I skipped Cappadochia is there a trip where I could pick up a car in Istanbul and drive for a week and then drop the car off and spend the balance of time in Istanbul? I know this is a very open ended question, but I was looking for cheap airfare and I finally gave up and booked the airfare this week. We went to Croatia last year and booked a car and had a great time.

Check the responses on the following recent thread.
The suggestions were for April 2011, a totally different weather, and also for someone who had a major interest in visiting WW 1 sights. However, it should give you a good idea,
You could also do other alternatives in addition to Istanbul:
1. Cappadocia, hattusas, yazilikaya, alaca Hoyuk
2. Cappadocia, Silifke, Anamur, Antalya
3. Antalya, Cirali, Kas, Fethiye
4. Dalaman, fethiye, Datca
5. Izmir, Ephesus, Aphrodisias, Herakleia
6. Mardin, hasankeyf, Urfa
7. Trabzon, Rize, Borcka, Batumi (in Georgia)

Hi
I guess that we are not as ruin oriented as alot of people who travel to Turkey. I am looking about breaking it up with some seaside/beach time. We are their in early October so i do not know what the beach weather will be like. I am looking for someone that had a similar outlook who might have an itinerary they enjoyed.

I am sorry that i posted the alternatives above, which are apparently rather meaningless for you, because you have not researched the country you will be visiting. At least four of the alternatives i proposed would have different amounts of beach time, chilling and resting.
You should just check the trip reports of the last four years and you will find some that you can duplicate. If not, you can always find a tour agency which will happily tell you where to go.

I may have written too many trip reports. It's on the second page, but in case you can't find it:
