Turin/Torino Restaurants
I've searched and found a few threads, but there are not many responses and they are a few years old. So I thought I'd start a new thread. I would love to hear any recommendations for restaurants in Turin or outside of Turin in the country/nearby villages that are inexpensive or moderately priced. Nothing too too fancy. Thanks!

Just back from Turin. I had an excellent dinner for €15 including appetizer, main oourse, dessert, mineral water and coffee (!) at
La Conca
Via Assietta 4/E
(near Porta Nuova Station.
It was their "menu turistico" and much better than some fancier places.
In the same area for less than €25
Restaurant Gran Carlo
Via Magenta 2.
In Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 4
Da Michele
a tiny place which gets filled very quickly.
Also less than €25.

ekscrunchy :
are you the person looking for bus transfer from Milan airport to Torino?
There is one bus a day to Linate and several to Malpensa. I have the complete time-tables if you are interested.
Amy :
Had lunch at "Sua Maesta" the truffle restaurant at Eatitaly. I am sorry to say it was a big disappointment. Had "cruda" i.e. 2 oz of raw meat with white truffle shavings which didn't taste like much and three and a half leaves of rucola with a little olive oil.
Total damage : €23 with a bottle of water. They don't serve coffee.

I've eaten at the Pizza/Pasta restaurant at Eataly, and it's not bad. It's soooo difficult to get a table at any of the restaurants there. Always people hovering around waiting for a table.
ok, I'll recommend a restaurant -
Antiche Sere
Via Cenischia, 9/b
Tel: 011 3854347
It's good and not that pricey. The menu is not big, and I think it might change every so often, if not daily or weekly. You need to make reservations.

Try Tre Galline (via Bellizia 7) one of Turins oldest restuarants in the old city, serving traditional Piedmontese dishes, also Spada Reale (via Principe Amadeo 53, neear Pzza Vittorio Veneto) and Porto di Savona on Pzza Vittorio Veneto 2.
Also check out EATALY on Via Nizza just next to Lingotto, lots of great lunch bars in each section, and a Guido restaurany for evenings.
How far outside Turin do you to go, so many great little osterie and trattorie in Piedmont's countryside it hard to know where to start. Will you be touring the wine country around Asti and Alba?
If you go up to the Sacre di San Michele just outside Turin (highly recommended) try Ristorante Valsangone in the main square in Govone (which you drive through when you leave the abbey), wonderful inexpensive trattorie, and the area is famous for porcini (in season of course).

For starters, here are few ideas, culled from various websites and food guides:
http://www.cntraveller.com/Guides/It...lt.aspx?Page=3
http://tinyurl.com/c4zsac
And here are two sites, in Italian, with quite a few (non-professional) reviews:
http://www.tigulliovino.it/rece/rece_piemonte.htm
http://viaggi.ciao.it/Opinionisulpro...Torino__119879
Reviews and pics of Antiche Sere, a SlowFood pick in Turin:
http://con-vivium.blogspot.com/2007/...re-torino.html
http://cshere.blogspot.com/2006/10/7-antiche-sere.html
Website of Con Calma, another SlowFood pick:
http://www.concalma.it/
Here are the other SlowFood picks in Turin:
Trattoria Valenza, Via Borgodora, 39
Sotto La Mole, Via Montebello, 9; website:
http://www.sottolamole.eu/Italiano/menu/menu.htm
L'Oca Fola, Via Drovetti, 6D
Dai Saletta, Via Belfiore, 37 (recommended in F. Plotkin book)
I've read very good things about this restaurant, too:
L'Agrifoglio, Via Provano, 3B
More formal/expensive, I think, than most of those above:
Casa Vicina:
http://www.casavicina.it/
Tre Galline:
http://www.quadrilateroromano.it/tregalline/
Al Garamond:
http://www.algaramond.it/locale.php
Babette (menu with prices):
http://www.ristorantebabette.it/inglese/intro.html
Gatto Nero, Corso Turatti, 14 (Tuscan food; recommended by Faith Willinger; Gambero Rosso)
http://www.qristoranti.it/piemonte/t...ero-di-torino/
C'era Una Volta (recommended by Willinger and much discussed on food sites; in all the guidebooks; some poor reviews by Italians on TA; very poor review from Chowhound):
http://www.ristoranteceraunavolta.it/
Finally, here is a place with an excellent review on CH:
http://web.tiscali.it/lacivassa/page2.html
I would love to read comments on any of the places mentioned above, and on others in the city.
