Bookmarking so I can finish reading tonight at home. Turin has been on my "Italy radar" for a while and I'm enjoying your report!

Thanks for the link to your very well-done blog - great pictures and descriptions of a wonderful trip. I will say it again, like you, we found the food, wine and especially the people of the Piedmont to be an incredible experience. Here at home, a lot of people we talk to about our trip have never heard of the Piedmont. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing but maybe it will stay relatively undiscovered for a little while longer. Thanks again for taking the time to post this, it brought back a lot of good memories.

john183 -- Thank you! I agree with you that maybe we should stop talking up the Piedmont so much -- keep it our little secret LOL! No question that it really is special, and deserves more attention than it receives.

Mag....a trip report that could serve as a colorful model.. wonderfully reminiscent pix/blog. I was happy to see your mention of the Vincafe in downtown Alba...great spot for lunch with many locals. Their "tajarin" plates are superb. (I found tajarin at one of our local Italian markets..packaged, however. We fell hard for it while there....

...found a tajarin dish with melted gorgonzola, pine nuts and cherry tomatoes at Antica Torres where you also dined...wife had the tajarin with sage and butter...delicious. We had the place to oursleves since we were there "early"..such attention by a talkative waiter. The town was deserted.

You certainly made a time of it whle in Piemonte...(I think I sent you my Alba pix before you left)...aside from the many small villages we visited, the size of Alba was just right for a town to stay close to. Almost felt like we were residents. Orta had that feeling but on a smaller plane.

Hi stu! I remember now that you did recommend Vincafe. We liked it so much, we ate their twice. Loved everything about the place -- plus our wonderful B & B had given us these discount cards that got us each free glasses of wine when we went there!

We liked Alba very much. The first day we arrived, we went to the weekly market and people were giving us free samples --everyone was so friendly and welcoming. And I thought the town was beautiful after dark with nice lighting on many of the old buildings.

I'm really glad to hear that you found tajarin (even tho it was packaged). I was hoping to find it somewhere. I actually miss it -- just talking about it is making me hungry for it!
