trying to decide between 2 hotels in Rome

We are trying to decide between Hotel Lancelot and Albergo Cesari in Rome for a trip in Nov. The location of Cesari makes it ideal for where we want to wander, but the price at Hotel Lancelot is more reasonable. Anyone ever been to both to help us decide?

Don't know if you've had the chance to view reviews on tripadvisor.com but here they are:

I know I've seen comments on this board about Cesari so you may want to put the hotel name (which is Hotel Cesari, not ALbergo Cesari) in the search field at the top of this page to get Fodorite comments.

I just returned from Rome and stayed at the Hotel Lancelot from 10/4-10/9. The Hotel Lancelot was wonderful. Mrs. Khan, her family, and her staff are very gracious and helpful.
The rooms in the hotel are a good size and the bathrooms are big by Italian standards. Our bathroom had a full-sized tub with a shower. The hotel is close to the Colosseum and St. John Lateran. If you have the opportunity to book a room w/ a view, do it! The views are spectacular.

Good for you! Be sure you post your reviews on tripadvisor w/ photos of the view and room number etc. It sure helps to see those things from someone who just stayed there. Are you going to entertain us with a trip report?

Haven't stayed at both, but we did stay at the Albergo Cesari (Trip Advisor has it wrong as Hotel Cesari - their website and all literature says Albergo Cesari) for 5 nights last March. Looking at Hotel Lancelot's website they appear to be very similar hotels, aside from the location, so that is probably the difference in price.

As others on Trip Advisor have noted, the location is absolutely ideal. Centrally located to everything. We walked everywhere, aside from the catacombs and the vatican (had an 8am meeting with our tour guide). Close enough that we were often able to stop back to use our bathroom or drop off our coats when the weather warmed up in the afternoon.

You just need to decide how much a central location is worth to you.

When it came down to the wire for me to choose a hotel in Rome for June 2006, it was between the Albergo Cesari and Hotel Lancelot.

I made my choice based on location, reviews and cost. In the end, I chose the Albergo Cesari for our party of 10. The hotel manager couldn't have been more accommodating and pleasant.

Mr. Khan, at the Lancelot would not budge from her quoted room rate when I asked for a reduction in price.

(Please be aware that the Lancelot has a main hotel as well as an annex.)

Our family is very satisfied with the decision to stay at the Albergo Cesari, and I certainly hope we are not disappointed.
