Thank you, mikelg and Revulgo. Spanish pop culture is so hard for me to understand. I just found out who Belen Esteban is a little while ago, and I still don't see the attraction, but then I certainly can't explain what Americans find fascinating about some of our pop icons either. ;-)

IMO, the national dish is not the paella but the tortilla de patata. Another 'humble' national dish is lentejas (lentil stew).
