Tom!

You outdid yourself!

Simply gorgeous.

That night shot of the Eiffel Tower in the first row, utterly fantastic.

Thank you for allowing us to share this journey with you.

Tiff,

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the compliment. Sad to say though, although I packed the film camera and the Tri-X, I did not shoot any black and white this trip. Guess I was just so caught up in my surroundings that I forgot I had it with me.

TexasAggie,

I wish I were a proffesional photograpgher. But I do make a living at my other love....cooking. Thats why I called this the F&F trip, food and fotos!!

As for the camera I used. It is a Nikon D50 DSLR. It wasn't until I got to Venice that I felt secure enough to turn off all the auto settings and go back to the 'good ole days'

How ironic, we are considering buying that very same camera. Having seen your pictures I am even more inclined toward it although I know I don't have near the level of talent for visualizing images that you have!
So... not to beg, but are Venice pictures coming up?

Ohhh, thank you Tiff! I know how I will be spending my evening tonight, day dreaming over these gorgeous photos!
I have just wrapped up tax season so I should be back to my normal Fodors addiction until my forced break next summer for the next go-round. It's great to be back

Ok, Tom, here is my ridiculous question, is that camera digital camera?

(Apologies for my ignorance, but I know you have a regular camera with you too.)

As far as your Tri-X, there is a reason that didn't come out of your bag. The color in your photos is so spectacular. I am glad you stuck with color.
Bravo!

p.s. Was it a hard transition going for Italy to France, were you "mille grazie-ing" people all over the place like I would be????

Echoing Tiff's sentiments over the colors you captured... the stained glass photos in Paris are stunning. I've tried to capture stained glass inside churches before so very many times and always end up with an unrecognizable blur. Did you use a tripod or is the camera just that wonderful?

Tiff,

Si and Si!!!! LOL

Yes it is a digital camera. But it is in a 35mm format. For me, this is soooo much easier too shoot with then a 'point and shoot' digital. In my opinion it gives you so much more control.

And yes, when I first got here to Paris, I found myself speaking in very bad Italian vs very very very BAD French. I got alot of laughs, but I can live with that. Paris blew my expectaions clear off the map. I know that I WILL BE BACK soon.

TexasAggie,

No I did not use a tripod. It just took some time to get use to the manual settings. That and switching your white balance from 'direct sunlight' to 'incandescent light'. And these were taken on a very cloudy day. I can only imagine what the stained glass would have looked like on a sunny day.

Hello Tom, I wish you a good flight home tomorrow, but sorry that your trip is over! And you know how much I absolutely love your photos..they are all gorgeous.

I hope when you get home and settled in you can tell us what your menu was regarding the dinner you cooked for your friends that live outside of Florence.

Best regards Tom, take care!!

There are artists behind the camera and then there are the rest of us. (Sigh!)

Was the food in your "food" photos your creations as well?

Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos, Tom.
