Trip to London
Hello. I'm thinking of booking a trip to London in January through virginvacations.com. The package for 6 nights including air and hotel range from between $449-1269 depending on the hotel. I have narrowed the choices down to the following below. Has anyone stayed at any of these hotels or can recommend one. Looking for something moderately priced, convenient, clean, and decently nice. Also, does this package seem like a good value. I've also looked on Gotoday.com, gate1travel.com. Any other places to look. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Somerset Bayswater Hotel (42 Prince Square, Notting Hill)
Thistle Westminister Hotel (Buckingham Palace Road)
Thistle Kinsington Palace Hotel (104 Bayswater Road)
Somerset Roland Gardens Hotel (121 Old Brompton Road, South Kensignton)
One more question. What is the weather like? I'm from NY. Will the weather be about the same in early January. Thanks again!

Is this $589 per person for two people, or are you traveling alone? If you are traveling alone, are you sure that is the rate you will pay, and is not based on double occupancy? Also, does that price of $589 include all taxes and fees?
It appears from a quick search that you could independently get airfare for around $400 per person, including taxes and fees. So, if the price above is double occupancy and includes all taxes and fees, that would give you $378 total for 6 hotel nights, or $63/night. You may be able to get a 3* hotel through priceline for about that price, and I'm pretty sure the Thistle Kensington Palace is a priceline 3*.
However, if you could independently get a better flight price (I just did a cursory search), or if that price doesn't include taxes and fees, you could probably do better on your own without a package. Plus, then you'd have more control over your hotel options and flights.

The weather in January will probably be a bit milder than NY. It is cold and damp in London but you are unlikely to have significant snow. You should be prepared for short days - London is a bit dark in the winter but there is so much to do inside that you won't mind.

jlm_mi is right. Make sure you know what is and what isn't included in your package price. If you are traveling by yourself, the package is usually not the best way to go because the single supplement is very high.
Check the Thistle website for their prices. They also have their own sales and it's usually per room not per person and may include a cooked breakfast buffet and tax. You may be able to find something even more centrally located for the same/better price. Also as jlm said, priceline is another source.
Jan is very off season and there are often really low airfares out of NY to London for that time of year.
London's weather in Jan is very similar to New York's though when it rains/snows it really feels like to goes straight through to the bones. Just dress warmly (hats and gloves required) and bring an umbrella. When I go in Jan, I do indoor things (museums, theatres, etc) but I do like the London Walks. It can get really cold walking around, even during the day.

There is a mistake in your listing. The Thistle hotel at 104 Bayswater is the Thistle Kensington Gardens. The Thistle Kensington Palace is in De Vere Gardens, south of Kensington Gardens.
I have stayed at Thistle Kensington Gardens. I found it "...moderately priced, convenient, clean, and decently nice". I have no sense whether it is a better value than the other three, though.
