Le Manoir Les Minimes in Amboise
We have decided to stay here, but are wondering if we should include breakfast in our rate. If you stayed here, is it worth it to have breakfast at the hotel or are we better off going into town for something to eat?

I loved the hotel, but found the breakfast overpriced and not particularly filling. After one morning of dining on the hotel offerings, we decided we would do better to walk in town and have our breakfast. We were glad we made the decision.
Do get the evening manageress' recommendations for dinner. She is very knowledgable and most charming. Oh, and pat the darling Olga for me.
Truly a wonderful hotel. Have a marvelous time.

As I recall, breakfast was 11€ and consisted of:
- croissants, breads (and I think there was a self-serve toaster)
- butter, jams, honey
- yogurt
- some fruit (grapes and..?)
- juice
- coffee (and probably other choices, but we drink coffee)
I don't normally want to spend that much on breakfast, but I also don't much like going out for breakfast, either. The quality was fine and we had more than enough to eat.

The first morning of our stay there we went out -- trying to get an early start on chateau itinerary. We ended up with the second worst breakfast of the trip because nothing seemed to be open: a chocolaty roll in a patisserie and one of the tiny, tiny espressos in a bar.
So the second morning we ate in (nice china) probably expensive but a more agreeable experience.
And yes, do pat Olga.

In Amboise we had very good breakfasts at J. Morel patisserie -- 2 croissants and cafe creme for 5 euro. I can't remember the name of the street now, but it was one of the main pedestrian shopping streets. They had a sandwich board out in front advertising their breakfasts, and luscious pastries in the window.
