Trip to Hungary

I am planning to visit Hungary. Not just Budapest but other attractions in the country too. What are some other attractions to visit? Such as small towns, castles, etc.? Thanks

The Danube Bend towns of Estergom, Visegrad and Szentendre. You can visit the latter eaily from Budapest.
Lake Balaton -- maybe someone can tell you where to go there.
Pecs -- 3 hrs sw of Budapest. A lovely town, medival bastion, handsome cathedral, beautiful center of town, many interesting museums all set in the Mecek hills. Further southwest [a good day trip from Pecs] is Siklos [a simple but nice medival castle], and the wine district of Villanyi. There is also the church in Maryigud, a shrine for healing, and the Villanyi Sculpture Park. I've talked more about this are on this list before. Do a search for pecs or villanyi and it should come up.
Eger in NE, is a nice medievil town with churches, a beautiful castle, and a nice town square. Also great wine region. Egri Bikaver(Eger's Ox's blood) is a wine specialty.

Eger is a very nice little town to visit for a day. The immense plains between Budapest and Debrecen are also quite interesting.

Hiu I agree with the others. There is also a very good restaurant in Eger near the castle entrance. Talizman is the name. They make a soup there that is the specialty and it is wonderful we stayed 2 days there. We also have been to the towns on the Danube bend that the others have mentioned. Another town is Sopron. It is on the Austrian border. Very nice place to visit. Enjoy alan
