Yes I did cover quite a few places in a short time..I would like to return to Austria sometime with my family, stay for a while longer in the Lake district. But this was good enough for now, got a good taste of different regions.

Graz is a pretty town. Klagenfurt is even more so, in my opnion.
Vienna is absolutely awesome...rivals and beats (imo) Paris!
Gosau is my fav place in the mountains...stayed there for a week not too long ago and walked/hiked the town and beyond. Stayed at Landhaus Hotel Koller...owners treat you like a family member. Melk Abbey is cool, but the highlight - imo, the highlight of all of Austria - is Barbara, the tour guide of the Abbey. She is stunning!!! I will marry that girl one day!

Love your trip report! I am traveling to Munich, Salzburg and Vienna during the Christmas/New Year's holidays. I've added so much to my notes from your trip. I want to take a day trip to Melk and perhaps an overnight to Prague - we'll see! We have 7 days in Vienna but that includes New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. I'm so glad to see another traveler staying in hostels. I love them (well most of them!) This trip I am staying in small apartment as I will have my 14 year old daughter with me and I want her to be able to sleep.

I prefer hostels when I travel alone, because you get to meet people, and I'm making sure I use them as much as I can, in a few years I would be old enough to stay in hostels.
