Spygirl, you come across as one angry broad. What an awful disposition you have! The comments in your last post were downright rude and incalled for...

Suzq, I enjoyed your report. I must admit that I wondered at times while reading why you were keeping your meals so simple and everything seemed so planned leaving little room for spontaneity which is quite often what makes a trip like your that much more enjoyable. However after you provided the additional details about yourself and your DH and indicated that you were on a budget it made perfect sense to me and I applaud you for being brave ebough to embark on your journey inspite of everything. You are that much the richer for the experience. Good luck with your studies and happy travels!! Cheers!

I would not characterize Spygirl as "one angry broad." I will say she is honest and forthright. She says what she means and means what she says.

I too cringed when I read the part about taking photographs in the Sistine Chapel, with the addendum "Like I’m really going to go in the Sistine Chapel and not take pictures?" Actions and attitudes like that make it difficult for everyone.

Putting this specific incident aside, I do find myself admiring suzq as this thread adds on, as she has not lowered herself to some of the very negative comments and criticisms of a very personal nature. In my opinion, she was unprepared in some areas, she did run afoul of some museum rules and regulations, but her honesty and refusal to submit to snipes or reply in kind speak highly of her.

Re: treniltalia

Suzq, Eliztrav, Elenem, ( and Eloisie)

I finally did get my reservation. The missing key point was that one can't reserve until 60 days before the desired day. In day 59 and counting down, I was able to reserve.

Suzq reread your post again and enjoyed it all over again, (except for Spygirl and ahem, Eloise). Oh well.

I doubt I'll have the courage you did to post my report. Congratulations on doing your traveling now, young and under less than ideal circumstances. I too am on a budget, (retired), and am having to travel alone. DH and I had intended to do this together, so now I'm fulfilling our dreams without him. You are so right to go now, even if you had to eat more pasta etc than you cared for. I hope you keep on traveling, even with your kids. We did, thankfully, because now my daughter likes to go. So I sometimes have her company.

everittp: Glad to hear your train situation is now settled. Don't forget to take an easy printout of the train schedule with you, just to make your alternatives easier if the need arises (which it probably won't). And, that's the easiest way to count the stops to your destination so you can be ready to get off the train.

How wonderful you've decided to travel on your own rather than give up on it. With a little advance boning up, you can eat well on a budget! Have a terrific trip & please do post a report. As in life, there are always a few "bad apples." Just ignore them!
