rkkwan - Yes, that makes sense to send someone in - but most likely my husband would have done the same thing - dropped us off at the hotel and taken the car himself. I'll have to tell him about your story!
I've driven in NYC a lot of times so Paris doesn't intimidate me either. I find it fun, but we no longer keep a car while in Paris. We did that once and could never find parking - we were young and broke and didn't consider parking garages back then...in the days of 10 francs to the dollar! We got some parking tickets that trip.
